On 14 November 2020, a 64-year-old patient had jumped off the sixth-floor of the Likas Women and Children’s Hospital in Kota Kinabalu.

The man was admitted into the hospital over the past few days for treatment for Covid-19 as well as cancer after an investigation was conducted by Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Habibi Manjinji.

The man had sustained injuries on his arm and waist from the fall. “He was rescued by firemen who arrived at the scene after receiving a distress call. It is believed that the patient had been depressed before making the decision,” said Habibi.

Police are currently investigating to identify the real reason behind the patient’s decision to jump and a statement will be taken after his conditions improve.

A total of 15 personnel from two fire stations were involved to bring the victim to safety after receiving the distress call at 8:22P.M.
